One month and 2 days old!
We left the hospital tonight with everyone sleeping very deeply. All the boys are starting to put on some weight, although everyone is still under three pounds.... the double-chins are coming in!
RO is still having a tuff time. He has an infection in his lungs. We hate he has this however we are very happy they know what has been making him sick. He should be over this in a few days. The infection has caused him to have a large amount of mucus build-up in his lungs so he needed to go back on the ventilator. Not to define to much of this (staph based pneumonia), they have had to move him into a special room for the rest of his stay @ UAB. Jill and I have to wear gloves and a robe when handling him which sucks! Sorry for my French, but it does. Skin to skin runs a risk of spreading it to his peeps (brothers). We wish he was with his peeps however the room is very quiet and should be great for him to get some rest which is important to his recovery. They all three are fighters but he is our fighter-fighter, the killa from Manila, look-out!
JW and RE have been taken off their CPAPS! They both have been eating well with some residuals here and there but seem "for now" to be cruising along. Residuals is when the breast milk has not been digested and just sits in their belly. The breast milk is poured into a syringe and fed through feeding tubes. All three are fed this way until they learn to suck and swallow on their own.
I can't brag enough about the staff @ UAB. From the ladies who have cleaned our areas to the doctors, everyone! (pre - post delivery) They have all been so kind and personable. This situation has been a nightmare @ times and they have given us (boys included) so much comfort and hope (St. Oliver to T.K. and Ashley). You all have a place in our hearts.
Someone gave Jill a book called, Ending Your Day Right, by Joyce Meyer. She has read some of the devotions to me before bed and it has said the right things @ the right times.
July 30th; Sleep In Peace
In the quiet of the evening after a long day, it's not unusual to think about and evaluate the events of the day. But thoughts can be disturbing, especially if you faced problems that remain unsolved.
Sometimes these thoughts are not easy to turn off and can threaten to rob you of a peaceful night's sleep. But staying awake and worrying will not change or improve the situation @ all.
This is a good time to share your concerns with God and ask for his help. He tells us in his word to cast our cares on him, so give your thoughts to him and trust him to provide a solution. Then lie down and sleep in peace....
RO given you the "eye" seriously don't mess with him!
