Sorry I have to be brief tonight. I was hoping to post more photos tonight but I'm exhausted. The past two days have been very difficult.
RE was moved to the step-down unit (CCN) again yesterday - He was moved back to RNICU and placed back on the CPAP last night.
JW was taken off the CPAP yesterday afternoon - they put him back on it 30 minutes later.
RE was just hang'n out!
RO and JW kept D-satting during the night and by morning had stabilized.
I got a call midmorning today that RO was D-satting and having Bradys - the nurses had to "bag him" for a few minutes (oxygen mask with rubber bag attached @ opposite end. Oxygen purposely blows up bag like a balloon and squeezed by nurse which blows through mask held over his nose and mouth). He was taken off of the CPAP and put back on the ventilator (ventilator breathes for him). He may possibly have an infection so they have him on meds. They gave him a blood transfusion this morning and spinal tap this evening. His color looked so much better after the transfusion although he had a slight fever (fever gone now). Having the fever is not all bad because it means his body was fighting off whatever was making him feel bad. I left them tonight about 11:00 and they all looked calm and peaceful!
Neither Jill nor I held them today because of obvious reasons but did lay our hands on them for most of the day and night. The funny thing about holding or laying our hands on them is that we do it to comfort them but "they always" seem to comfort us back. Its @ that moment that all the wires, beeps and worries disappear and you just know everything is going to be O.K.
